What to bring
- What to wear: Our workshops and safaris work from a casual basis therefore comfortable casual clothing works best.
- Sunscreen and a sun hat are important to ware under the African sun.
- Luggage: We are mostly out of the city but most of the accommodation establishments have laundry services, so you can pack light.
- Photography equipment: In Africa dust is your biggest enemy. Pack your equipment in dust proof bags and remember your cleaning kit. Bring at least 2 rechargeable camera batteries plus the charger and at least one set of AA batteries for your flash. Yes remember to bring your flash. At least 2 large sized memory cards and your tripod. This equipment can be rented locally, please enquire from us if you need to rent any equipment.
- What lenses to bring: The general rule is to bring at least 2 lenses; wide-to-normal and normal-to-telephoto. Wide is between 10 and 18mm. For wildlife photography you need at least a 300mm lens but 400mm is even better. What is also good in Wildlife photography is a lens with a low f-stop value. For landscape photography a not to large in size zoom lens of 70-200 will do you better than a cumbersome wildlife type lens.
- Money: The basic rule is; Card is best. But most international airports have banks where money can be changed. ATM’s are widely available in South Africa & Namibia and accept many international bank and credit cards. Major credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in commercial establishments, whereas American Express and Diners Club are not accepted everywhere.
- A laptop computer is a necessity for the wildlife workshops. A laptop computer is always handy but not a necessity of the 4x4 tours.
